HISTORY

 

Cocoa cultivation in Papua New Guinea has a history spanning over a century. The initial introduction occurred around 1900 when German traders brought cocoa into New Guinea. Subsequently, they established plantations in Bougainville, New Britain, and New Ireland under German colonial administration.
