BRAZIL

In Brazil, cocoa production has shifted from the Amazon region to the southern part of Bahia, where it has found some of the best soils and climates for its expansion. Currently, national production is primarily concentrated in the state of Bahia, which accounts for up to 90% of the country's cocoa production.

HISTORY

Brazil is one of the oldest cocoa-producing countries. Already in the 1930s, Brazil was the world's leading cocoa producer. Following a fungal attack around 1990, its position rapidly declined. Currently, with a 6% share of global cocoa production, Brazil ranks fifth among cocoa-producing countries.
